I Tried a $2 AliExpress Electric Toothbrush — Don’t Buy It

I bought this cheap electric toothbrush from AliExpress for just under $2.

My thinking was simple: maybe it could work as a small travel toothbrush. Something cheap and light to throw in a bag just in case.

Below, you can see the YouTube videos where I open the package and test it. And yes, as you will notice, I had some trouble getting it started at first. I was completely sure I had new batteries, but they were actually dead. In the second video, you can see the toothbrush working.

First impression

The toothbrush is small and light in the hand. It does not feel premium, of course, but it also does not feel like it will break immediately.

For the price, I was not expecting much. Still, I hoped it might at least work well enough as a simple backup toothbrush for travel.

Testing it

To be honest, I am not even completely sure how the bristles are supposed to move. It looks like they move slightly from side to side, but the movement is very weak.

In the last video, I hold a thin piece of plastic over the brush head to show the effect. With a better electric toothbrush, you would normally see the plastic move or jump around much more.

With this one, not much happens.

Using it as a toothbrush

When I actually tried brushing with it, I quickly realized that the electric function barely made any difference.

It more or less ended with me using it like a normal manual toothbrush — and honestly, that worked better.

That is the main problem. If the electric part does not really help, then there is not much point in buying it.

Final verdict

This is not a travel hack I would recommend.

Even though it was very cheap, I still do not think it is worth buying. You are better off spending the money on a regular toothbrush and bringing that with you when you travel.

Worth the buy?
No. Don’t buy it.

A normal toothbrush will probably do a better job.

A quick note about availability

I could not find the exact same toothbrush again when writing this review. That can happen with cheap AliExpress products — listings disappear, stores change, and the same type of product may show up under different names.

But honestly, I have a hard time believing that another version at the same price would be dramatically better.

For around $2, my expectations were already low, and after testing this one, I would be very cautious with similar ultra-cheap electric toothbrushes too.
